[2026-08-15] FUJIFILM Philippines - Nationwide Photo and Video Walk 2026

theme: REFLECTIONS

initial candidate for submission

actual submission

I thought I already had a passable entry in the morning with the first picture, but then I snapped the second image while I was looking around to replace my worn-out shoes.

The saturated colors of the former are more eye-catching, but the composition felt cliché, and there's a high chance of others doing something similar since we had puddles everywhere that morning.

In contrast to that, the second shot was more muted, but it featured a more transcient moment, and it's a better metaphorical representation of the theme with the music being a reflection of the artist.

In-camera edits were allowed, and a lot of heavy lifting was done there given the sensitivity of exposing for a subject reflected on a smooth black surface.

I think there was also a restriction about visible brands, but I couldn't crop out "YAMAHA" without sacrificing the main subject so I just cut out the first 3 letters to leave "AHA".

[2026-04-18] Canon Photomarathon 2026

Entry for the main theme ("FEEL IT")

After a 7-year hiatus, the Canon Photomarathon makes a return and opens its doors to participants of other camera brands.

[retro: 2019-10-19] Canon Photomarathon 2019

Entry for theme 1 ("DREAM")

Entry for theme 2 ("FAITH")

The event was held at SM Mall of Asia, but given how the contest would eventually be saturated with pictures of that place, I went to Quiapo instead for my shots.

CameraHaus Photolympics 2025

This event was somewhat reminiscent of Canon's Photomarathon with the multiple locations, but the notable difference is that this year's Photolympics was held concurrently at Manila, Baguio, Iloilo, and Cagayan de Oro (Canon typically holds them on separate days).

Canon Photomarathon 2018

Canon's annual Photomarathon event continues to show signs of tightening the belt, but I suppose that's fine if the cost-saving measures mean more of the proceeds going to the non-profit organization Operation Smile Philippines.

Incidentally, I think this year's winning shots (grand champion and runner-ups) are more interesting than last year', though still not at the level of the winning entries from 2014 and earlier.

Canon Photomarathon 2017

After a notable 2-year absence, the Canon Photomarathon finally returns with slightly less fanfare.

Canon Photomarathon 2014

Canon Photomarathon:
That once-a-year event that allows photographers to run amok without being annoyed by security personnel. It's somewhat similar to playing Metal Gear Solid without seeing a single exclamation mark.

Canon Photomarathon 2012

This shot would have probably looked better if I had the fisheye lens with me.

The Canon Photomarathon of 2012 came to a close yesterday.
